So, things yesterday didn’t go the way I planned. I am a mood reader, and after I announced that I would be reading The Romance Revival, I just…didn’t want to.
Unfortunately, I wanted to want to read it, so I kept trying and getting distracted by meditation apps and book shopping, and sour patch kids and groceries, so by the time I just decided to change direction and pick something else to read, it was late, and I didn’t get as far as I wanted to.
I’m a little ruled by library due dates these days. I really WANT to read a wide variety of books, but Kindle Unlimited offers me practically endless stores of dopamine in the form of romance novels with the happiest of happy endings, so it’s hard to pull myself away, and then I have six library books due in the next two weeks, and it’s like finals week in college all over again. I keep saying that I’m going to stop with the virtual stacks of books that have deadlines, and, you know, maybe only take out a book at a time or so…but then I see all the good books, and that just feels silly. So, right now, I have six books expiring in the next 18 days.
It’s fine. I just can’t…dawdle. 😂
What I did end up reading is a book that’s been on my TBR for weeks, the first book in the new EM Lindsey “Storm Season series called “Don’t Fall.” It’s right in my wheelhouse, featuring North, a deeply-conflicted fireman, and his prickly neighbor, Leo, a widower who is angry at almost everything. It’s good. I’m hopeful that once I finish, though, I can get back to The Romance Revival, as I am on a deadline here.

Busy day ahead—Juliana in 40 minutes, then imma make dinner (some chicken thing the internet told me is good), and maybe bake a cake. I have a new frosting technique I want to try.
But before I do any of that, here’s the good stuff.

The good stuff
Yesterday, I made a breakfast casserole for the family, then meditated for 20 minutes after we ate. I was feeling unsettled, so honestly, I spent more time than I wanted to online, but I did settle in the evening and read a total of 380 pages (230 the night before after midnight and another 150). I am grateful that I can still cook with my disability.
Love y’all.
