Remember read-a-thon? You would keep people to pledge a certain amount of money per book (I think it was per book as per page would be onerous) and you would keep a list of what you read, and at the end of the month, collect whatever money you raised for whatever cause you were shilling for. Band camp, or some such.
I always made OUT on a read-a-thon. People would pledge fifty cents a book, not expecting me to read, like, fifty of them in a month.
I was a machine. Still am some months.
Anyway, I am starting a read-a-thon today, for the American Cancer Society. It’s much less fidgety, all on the honor system. I say I’m going to read every day in August, and you pledge money to the ACA in support of me doing all this reading.
Which, honestly, I was going to do anyway. But yay donations!
I’m starting the month with The Wishing Game, a little bit fantasy/magical realism. Not gonna lie—I picked it because this cover is GORGEOUS.

I read 31 books last month, and they were mostly really good. A couple were meh, a couple were yeeted into the fires of Mount Doom, but…mostly it was a really good month.

Karin Slaughter is a new-to-me author, and I loved We Are All Guilty Here so much that I started her “Will Trent’ series. That first book was DARK, y’all. Good, but twisted. Which was not a bad thing, but damn.
The fundraiser is done via Facebook, but if you are inclined to donate, the link is here:

Back tomorrow with an update on The Wishing Game, but before we go, here’s the good stuff:

The good stuff:
Yesterday, I meditated for fifteen minutes, wrote a blog post, and read 164 pages. I am grateful that I live in the same timeline as eggs, which are delicious in every form. Kevin made a fantastic Friday pizza, and I hung out with my friends on zoom.
Love y’all.

Definitely with ya on eggs (mayo and bagels as well). Also grateful.
Right? They are kind of the best.
