It’s a weird new year. We are all sick (well, except for FL) (but including Lois and Richard) and I’ve been not taking any gummies, less they interfere with the otc cold medicine. So sleep has been weird. The one thing I have noticed off my meds (I mean, I have a med card so I can call them that, right?) is that my dreams are more….vivid? Disturbing? I fight more in them. Jake shows up more in them. I guess that my dreams are even weirder off THC than on, is what I am saying.
But today is new tech day, and that’s always exciting. I’m getting a Kobo Libra Colour, which seems excessive, given that I own two kindles, a phone and FOUR iPads (I promise they all have a purpose!). But this one has a stylus, and can (I say can, not will—I know myself) function as a digital notebook.
And yes, this is a more expensive version of the ADHD cliche about THIS notebook fixing my life. It likely won’t, but new year and everything.
Last year, I read 185 books, and I probably remember about six of them. No, more…but not more than probably thirty or so. Reading forgettable books to stay off the ledge is better, I think, than the ledge itself, but I am setting my goals much lower this year, and I am going to try—TRY!—to read more books that I love, and fewer books that function as background noise. Maybe. We’ll see how many other countries we invade. I might need the distraction of sweaty hockey boys in love.
Also, I turn sixty this year and wow. That’s disconcerting.
