Name an attraction or town close to home that you still haven’t got around to visiting.

I’ve lived in DC for 35 of the last 37 years, and never managed to visit the Mormon temple, which is just up the beltway. Part of that is that it’s not always open to the public, and figuring out when to go can be a pain. Part of it is laziness. I don’t really ever want to GO anywhere. And part of it is just my general aversion to churches in general.

Still, it is stunningly beautiful.

I see it all the time, from a distance. I’ve probably driven past it anywhere from three to seven times a week for thirty-five years. This is what it looks like from the beltway as you are driving past.

Kind of a weirdly ominous Cinderella’s Castle.

Maybe we’ll go at Christmastime. I imagine the lights are spectacular.

Today’s book is a mystery.

No, literally. I know what it is…and what it is is a mystery. Book. Mystery book.

I used to read nothing BUT mysteries. I would tell people that if someone wasn’t dead in a dumpster by page twelve, I wasn’t interested.

And then, for a couple years after the pandemic, I only read romances. I was kind of dependent on the guaranteed happy ending.

And now, in keeping with 2025’s theme of Balance, I’m trying to read some of both.

This isn’t my favorite, but you really can’t go wrong with Tana French. She’s grand.

Love y’all.
